                           The arrival of John Fink in America from Germany
John Fink arrived in America sometime between 1830 to 1840 from Darmstadt-Hessen, Germany. There has not yet been discovered where he came into the country . I do know that his wife's name was Mary A. Roate, but that also leads to a mystery as to when they were married. One family story says they met and married in New York, but no real proof has been found. Earliest traces of this family start in Pennsylvania, but that too is not yet proven beyond a doubt. From Pennsylvania they moved to Scioto county Ohio and this is documented. The next move takes the Fink family to Cass, Brown, and Schuyler counties in Illinois. In the 1900's a piece of the family split off and relocated to Colorado and from there others moved on to the west coast.
