Burial note:     ALEXANDER, JANET and their three small children sailed aboardthe ship MALABAR from GREENOCK, SCOTLAND. They were accompanied byJanet's brother THOMAS STRATHEARN, his wife and children. Theyarrived in NEW YORK harbor on 31 May 1849. The families then walkedto TURTLE CREEK, PENNSYLVANIA. The STRATHEARN family stayed therewhile ALEXANDER and family moved on, eventually settling in MINNESOTA.
ALEXANDER and JOHN fought the Indians in the BATTLE OF THEKILDEER MOUNTAINS, also in the CIVIL WAR. ALEXANDER with the 8thMINNESOTA INFANTRY and JOHN with CO. C, BRACKETTS BATTALION CAVALRY.
